Conference

The UDT ASIA Conference will be the definitive forum for addressing the key issues in the undersea defence community. With speakers from a multitude of nations, the conference will address military requirements in the ever changing landscape of undersea maritime security and force protection.

The Asia-Pacific nations continue to invest in new naval capabilities to meet their maritime security requirements and protect their national interests for safe access to the maritime domain. The convergence of surface and subsea fleets for littoral operations has resulted in capability upgrades for a comprehensive approach towards maritime security.

New systems are being procured to counter the growing “asymmetric” threats like coastal mines, quiet diesel submarines, global piracy, and terrorists. Intelligence gathering remains key and sharing tactical information with other Navy aircraft, ships, submarines, and coalition joint forces has never been so paramount.

The acquisition of undersea fleets including strategic perspectives on plans, policy, doctrinal and advanced procurement issues will be discussed and the future direction defined.

Given the diversity of possible missions in the shallow-water and near-shore littoral zones, the potential threats from forces on land, any ship designed for these tasks must be both versatile, stealthy and above all within budget. COTs have emerged as a viable alternative to ensure open system architecture and training for decision making responsibility remains a priority

The Conference at UDT ASIA will reflect these changing maritime trends and will embrace a broad spectrum of undersea maritime security, changes in concepts of operations and the increased role for unmanned vehicles. It will look at the naval requirements and the technology that can fulfil these needs.

This is the definitive conference in the Asia-Pacific region focusing on the issues affecting the maritime and undersea community.

More detailed information on the conference sessions and fees will follow, once the programme has been confirmed.
